Parents ask me this all the time, and it's a fair question. If the adjustment helps, why not do a few and be done? Why twelve weeks?
The answer is in what the adjustment actually does, and the best way I know to explain it is a garden.
Before you can expect a seed to grow, the soil has to be ready. You don't plant into hard, depleted ground and then blame the seed. You till the soil first.
That's what the adjustment is, and it's why it comes first. It's small, specific, and gentle. For a child, honestly, it's about the pressure you'd use to check whether an avocado is ripe. Its job isn't mechanical. It's to restore clean communication between the brain and the body, so the brain has an accurate signal to build on.
That's the tilled soil. Once the ground is ready and the information is clean, the child's own development can take root. Later, at the right time and never before the system is ready, we add specific brain-and-body work on top of that foundation.
So why twelve weeks instead of one visit? Because development is a trajectory, not a switch.
A brain builds a new pattern the way anyone builds any skill: the right input, repeated, over time. Play a scale once and nothing sticks. Play it every day and it becomes automatic. Early on, what we see is a system that shifts in the right direction during and after a visit, then drifts back toward what it knows. With enough repetition, the new pattern stops being a visitor and starts being home.
Which is why a defined program isn't an upsell. It's how the mechanism works. One adjustment produces a response. Repetition builds a pattern, and the pattern is the part that's still there after the twelve weeks are over.
It also means the reps genuinely matter. The families who protect the consistency during this window tend to get the most out of it, because they gave the soil enough time to actually change.
If you're weighing whether to start, that's the honest version of what you'd be saying yes to. Not a number of visits. A window long enough for a pattern to form.
