The handful of ideas everything else rests on. If you read one section, read this one.
- Your body isn't just avoiding sickness. Every second, it's actively working to repair, digest, defend, and balance. That active state is health.
- Your nervous system is the pathway your body's intelligence uses to run everything, from healing a cut to a beating heart. That's why it matters.
- Interference is anything that disrupts how your nervous system communicates. It can come from one big event or a thousand small, repeated ones.
- An adjustment doesn't add anything to your body. It removes interference so your nervous system can communicate clearly and your body can function.
- Your body responds the very first day, but lasting change builds over many visits. That's why a course of care takes time, not one adjustment.
Babies and Development
What we look for in a newborn, what a parent can watch at home, and how little force it takes.
- Very little. What makes an input work for a newborn is where it lands and the timing, not the amount of pressure that is applied.
- Birth is a real mechanical event for a baby, who does the physical work of moving through. That is why a gentle look afterward makes sense.
- A baby isn't born with the S-shaped spine you picture on a poster. Those curves are built over the first year by how a baby moves.
- Back to sleep, belly to play. Tummy time and safe sleep aren't rivals; each does its own job in building a baby's strength and movement.
- By around three months, we look at whether a baby turns the head easily in both directions. If one side stays easier, it is worth checking.
- A resting baby gradually takes the shape of what they rest against. The goal isn't a better position, just more variety in how they lie.
- With early milestones, the order they happen in tells us more than the exact timing. We look at whether they arrive in sequence.
- Crawling is thousands of small repetitions a baby practices alone. The reps are theirs; we check whether the body has the freedom to take them.
- Feeding is real physical work: the tongue, jaw, and cheeks repeat a coordinated sequence hundreds of times, building strength in a baby's face.
- The body's fascia runs as one continuous sheet from skull to tailbone, which is why we check both ends even when you came in about one.
- A newborn's skull arrives as separate plates with open seams so it can keep pace with rapid brain growth, shaped from inside and by movement.
- In the womb, the nervous system is built before almost anything else. It is laid down first, then protected by the skull and spine around it.
- No. Touch is an input a baby's nervous system is built to expect, not a habit you can spoil. Holding your baby is feeding that system.
The best way to understand it is to feel it.
